Thought I would post the after photo. The last post had these same pieces before the glazing. Color makes a big difference doesn't it?

Ready To Be Glazed

Several pieces that have been fired the first time at 1800 degrees F and now awaits for a beautiful glaze to be applied. We have some bird feeders, a pitcher, a lidded casserole dish and a nice planter that will be perfect for somebodies herb garden.

One Month After Snow

It is hard to believe that just one month after our last snow the Wehadkee Falls looks like this.

New Large Vessel

Work in progress, this large vessel eventually will have two handles and a lid. It will take at least two weeks to air dry before we can fire it. Can't wait to see it complete with a beautiful glaze.

Spring 2010

Spring is officially here with 72 degrees this past Saturday and "spring fever" was evident with many people out this past weekend. The pottery interest was on bird houses and feeders. The bird house has 222 Tweet Avenue etched in it.

Swagg Homemakers Club

It was great to have the Swagg Homemaker Club visiting Rock Mills Pottery. We shared with them parts of the rich history Rock Mills has concerning the potter families and their work dating back to the 1840s. A little about the different clay bodies and glazes used. Several members shared some of their stories and memories on old family pottery. Thanks Come Again!

Potential Spring Center Pieces

Just a few examples from a recent kiln opening, the studio is beginning to warm up along with the weather. A stoneware woven basket with an azurite blue glaze and another potential center piece a leaf bowl in a leopard agate green glaze. The disc shaped pieces are trivets perfect for those hot dishes to be placed on. A favorite item of many is the Wehadkee Falls & Mill candle vase and topaz modified azurite blue vase or planter. Just in time for spring we have bird houses, bird feeders, and planters underway.

Snow Again

For the third time we had snow in Rock Mills, Alabama on Feb 12, 2010. We love it in the south and so did the stray Canadian goose in the second photo.

Kiln Openings

Exhibit In Clay County

I really appreciate the invitation from Clay county Arts Association to exhibit in the lobby of the Wellness Center. It was great to see how wonderful this facility is and what it provides to the community. I will have the exhibit set up through the month of February 2010. If you are in the area stop by and see both the facility and the pottery.
